Gentle me

from Guerrillas of Grace by Ted Loder

Gentle me
Holy One,
into an unclenched moment,
a deep breath,
a letting go
of heavy expectancies,
of shriveling anxieties,
of dead certainties,
that, softened by the silence,
surrounded by the light,
and open to the mystery.
I may be found by wholeness,
upheld by the unfathomable,
entranced by the simple,
and filled with the joy
that is You.

Serenity Prayer

by Reinhold Neibuhr

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.

In My Soul

by 8th c. female Muslim, Sufi saint & mystic, Rabia Al Basri,
abbrev. Trans. D. Ladinsky, Love Poems from God

In
  my soul
there is a temple, a shrine, a mosque,

a church where I kneel….

Prayer should bring us to an altar where no

walls or names exist….

In my soul there is a temple, a shrine,

a mosque, a church

that dissolve, that dissolve in God.

From Ministration to the Sick,

The Book of Common Prayer

This is another day, O Lord.  I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, for whatever it may be.  If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely.  If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly.  If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently.  And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus.  Amen.

Prayer attributed to St. Francis of Assisi

Lord make Me an instrument of Your peace
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness joy.
O Divine master grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood, as to understand.
To be loved. as to love
For it's in giving that we receive
And it's in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it's in dying that we are born to eternal life.

THE CHALICE PRAYER

by Frances Nuttall

Father, to Thee I raise my whole being,
a vessel emptied of self. Accept Lord,
this my emptiness, and so fill me with
Thyself – Thy Light, Thy Love, Thy Life –
that these, Thy precious Gifts
may radiate through me and overflow
the chalice of my heart into
the hearts of all with whom I
come in contact this day
revealing unto them
the beauty of
Thy Joy
and
Wholeness
and
the
serenity
of Thy Peace
which nothing can destroy.

Die Before You Die

…I was born when all I once feared—I could love.

As the Divine Mother

The Quiet Mind by White Eagle

You are as the Divine Mother carrying within you

the Light of the son.
Take this Light with you out into the world
to bless, to heal, and quicken the vibration of the earth.
